This a beginner Jacket, done on the Bulky machine, I used the Brother 260, single bed. Sizes are Medium, Large and Extra Large, however it can be made lots bigger as the back is made in 3 panels, the fronts are done in 2 panels each. Side seams, underarm and sleeve seams are done using the Mattress stitch but the panels are sewn up using 2 strands of yarn on the right side of the garment. Very easy to do. It was done using Detroit a hand knit yarn.
Price is $8.50

Book # 36 called Single Bed Knitting Using the Double bed Colour Changer.
Its an instructional book showing you how to get great textured fabric in 2,3 or 4 colour. Its really easy to do and you can get some unique textures. I used a Brother standard Bed and ribber and Colour Changer, Singer, Studio and Silver Reed can also do this technique. Price is $10.00

THIS CAN BE USED FOR ANY MACHINE WITH RIBBER.
set pitch to half pitch (see manual)
Pull required number of needles to work position on both beds
With waste yarn zigzag cast on over needles in work carriage at left
Hang cast on comb and weights, make sure that the teeth of the comb are lined up with the main bed needles.
Unhook the ribber carriage from the main bed carriage and run the ribber carriage only across the ribber bed twice, do not drop the ribber bed down. All ribber stitches are dropped.
Change tension for single bed knitting for the size of yarn, push up both part buttons up on the ribber, leave needles of ribber bed in work. Using both beds knit about 21 rows, it will be knitting on the main bed only. Carriage on right. Change to main tension for both beds, remove part buttons on the ribber. Change to main yarn, knit 1 row to the left on a high tension about 4 times of the main tension. Run the ribber carriage only again for 2 rows, ribber stitches have dropped off. Carriage at left. You will finish this edge when knitting is completed.
Carriage outside turn mark, input pattern of your choice, Put the KC button on and knit to the right to select needles. Knit to desired length.
At end of knitting, carriage on right, knit 2 rows circular, transfer ribber stitches to main bed, leave ribber connected, knit 1 row to on high same as bottom, run ribber for 2 rows carriage on right. All stitches have dropped off the ribber bed. Push up the ribber bed part buttons, knit on main bed only with waste yarn, finishing will be done off the machine.
Finish by pulling the loops through each other one stitch at a time at the opposite side of the tail end, at the end pull tail through and sew in.
ENJOY HELEN

Companion Knitting for for any Toyota knitting machine that can hook either the 501 or 506 Ribbers to them.
Companion Knitting is done in Stockinette only. It is knitted doing 2 pieces of the same shape and size at the same time. You knit one piece on the main bed (back bed) and one piece on the Ribber bed (front bed).
You will need to make swatches, usually you will put the same tension on both beds, usually the size for your yarn. if you knit it at a T6, then T6 on both beds.
Cast on 60sts with waste yarn, every needle and pitch to H, end needles must be on the ribber, knit abour 10 rows in ribbing.
Set main bed carriage for colour and ribber carriage to plain, the S lever on 0 Thread the S feeder with contrast colour to test that the 2 pieces are knitting seperaetly. Tie garment yarns to waste yarn and pull through. You will need 2 cones of yarn.
RC to 000 garment tension on both beds and knit regular for 60 rows, mark 20the needles on each side of 0 on both beds, remove onto waste yarn. Take your measurement in the normal way.
If you want to keep swatching to make sure you have the tensions exactly alike then after first swatch then run waste yarn for a few row then change tensions the ribber maybe only needs on click while the main bed one whole click. Hope this helps you.
