Companion Knitting for for any Toyota knitting machine that can hook either the 501 or 506 Ribbers to them.
Companion Knitting is done in Stockinette only. It is knitted doing 2 pieces of the same shape and size at the same time. You knit one piece on the main bed (back bed) and one piece on the Ribber bed (front bed).
You will need to make swatches, usually you will put the same tension on both beds, usually the size for your yarn. if you knit it at a T6, then T6 on both beds.
Cast on 60sts with waste yarn, every needle and pitch to H, end needles must be on the ribber, knit abour 10 rows in ribbing.
Set main bed carriage for colour and ribber carriage to plain, the S lever on 0 Thread the S feeder with contrast colour to test that the 2 pieces are knitting seperaetly. Tie garment yarns to waste yarn and pull through. You will need 2 cones of yarn.
RC to 000 garment tension on both beds and knit regular for 60 rows, mark 20the needles on each side of 0 on both beds, remove onto waste yarn. Take your measurement in the normal way.
If you want to keep swatching to make sure you have the tensions exactly alike then after first swatch then run waste yarn for a few row then change tensions the ribber maybe only needs on click while the main bed one whole click. Hope this helps you.
