EVENING SHAWL FROM HELEN GRIFFITHS

YARN: 1 STRAND WHITE DIAMANTE 1 STRAND SILVER SHIMMER

OR YARN OF YOUR CHOICE

TENSION 9 ON STANDARD MACHINE.  7.27STS & 12RS = 1

PATTERN # 257 TUCK LACE IN 970 MACHINE.

Please use the KC11 button, if you do not have one use the single motif button

Ewrap cast on 75sts left of "0" and 76sts right of "0", knit to left, starting from center right transfer needles 3-7-11 to next stitch and every 4th needle to end. On left transfer needles 2-6-10 to next stitch and every 4th needle to end. Leave transfered needles out of work.

Knit 2 rows, carriage on left. Put carriage outside turn mark, input pattern, turn change knob to KC11. Knit to row 698 or length you desire, turn off pattern. Carriage on right, bring all out of work needles to work, knit two rows. Bind off. STEAM REALLY WELL.

Make fringe by cutting 12 pieces of yarn, fold in half and using the eyelets made by the empty needle holes, slide a latch tool from the back side of the knitted fabric to pull the yarn strands through. Slide yarn tails through loop and pull. No need to do any finish on the long sides as it does not roll.

Pattern is in the 930/940/965 machines as well. Schematic below for pattern as in Stitch World books.

11o1*11o1, this will give you an idea which pattern #. 0 indicates needles to be put out of work.  *  indicates inbetween both # one needles on left and right side of machine. 1 = needles in work. 8x8 pattern

  Enjoy helen

Helen - I have your pattern titled KIRSTY TWO PIECE ENSEMBLE which has some notation that in the machine knit pattern which I do not understand
INSTRUCTION READS AS FOLLOWS
Bind off 12 stiches on each side for all sizes. Then decrease on each side:
1X2X10T,
(1X2X16T)
[1X2X17T]
Knit to row 104, (118), [130].

I thought this meant " one stich each side ten times - however when we get to other instruction that reads 1X3X22T then that does not make sense. Please can you help me to read these properly.

Hi Letty, really sorry about that, i do not have a pattern for me to look at, they were only sold at the very beginning, the people who put the pattern out, did the write ups and sometimes made mistakes. I stopped selling the pattern. if you can copy the pages and send it to me i will try to work it out for you Helen

Helen, I think you forgot to mention the transfered stitches needed to be placed Out of work not left in work. Thank you for the free pattern! I have a 970 and will try it tonight.-Janet
